Original Charlottetown Camera Club 1967 description:
"Matron Nursing Sister, Cecily Jane Georgina Fane Pope, Royal Red Cross. Miss Pope was born in [Charlottetown] on January 1, 1862, daughter of the Honourable William H. Pope. While serving in the Boer War, she designed the first Canadian Nurses Uniform. She was the first Matron to be appointed to the Permanent Corps of Canadian Nursing Sisters. She also served in WWI from 1914 to 1919."
