Colonel John Hamilton Gray (1811-1887)
 
Colonel John Hamilton Gray was a Father of Confederation and Premier of PEI from 1863-1865.

Original Charlottetown Camera Club 1967 description:
"Colonel Gray was born in Charlottetown in 1811 and at an early age, went to England. He served in the British army for 21 years working with the 7th Dragoon in India and Africa. He received a medal for bravery in the Crimean War. As captain, he resigned from the army with half pay and returned to P.E.I. in 1852. In 1875 when Prince Edward Island was set apart as Military District No. 12, Gray became the first commandment with the rank of Colonel."
