|
Original Charlottetown Camera Club 1967 description:
"The Aboiteau or Aboideau Bridge, Tyron. The Acadians favored [sic] settling where marsh hay grew in abundance along the rivers. To keep the tide from overflowing the marshlands, they built aboideau… a type of dike with sluice gates… The river can flow out but the tide cannot flow in to any great extent - 300 years ahead of our North River Causeway!" | Next>>> | Previous<<< |
