Construction of Ferry Wharf, Borden, Prince Edward Island, ca. 191-

Looking for a way to better connect Prince Edward Island to the main land, it was decided that the Canadian National Railways would offer continued service via rail and through the use of the ferry system to connect Port Borden, PEI to Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick. Here the railway approach is being constructed in Borden to allow train cars to be loaded on to the ferries. The inscription on back of original photograph reads "The Car Ferry Terminals at Port Borden, PE. The 1700 stone approach nearly finished."
