The Queen Backstage with Carlou Carter, Dave Broadfoot, Portia White, and Mavor Moore, Charlottetown, 6 October 1964

The most significant event she participated in was the 1964 Centennial Celebrations commemorating the first meeting of the Fathers of Confederation in Charlottetown. The celebrations included the opening of a new complex housing a state-of-the-art theatre, art gallery, and library: the Fathers of Confederation Memorial Buildings. On October 7th, 1964, the Queen herself cut the ribbon at the Confederation Centre. Its first performance, a royal variety show featuring performers from across the country, was held that afternoon.
