10-year-old Terry LeClair Presents a Bouquet of Flowers to Her Majesty on the Steps of the Confederation Centre, Charlottetown, 1964

Despite the busy touring schedule, the Queen always insisted that time be left for events with the children of Prince Edward Island. Her Majesty would meet with youth leaders, awarding badges and cords to Girl Guides and Boy Scouts, and watch Children’s Rallies at the Exhibition Grounds. School groups were also given priority seating along travel routes so they would have a clear view of the Queen as she passed. During the 1973 visit, she made a special trip to Summerside to open the PEI Summer Games.
