| In the summer months, many outmigrants would return to the Island for a vacation. Most remaining Islanders anxiously awaited these visits when their family and friends would return, even if it was only for a short stay. In fact, Islanders looked forward to these return visits to such an extent that “Old Home Week” was established as a result. It was created as a way for the whole Island to celebrate the return of other Islanders, but in 1904 it became an advertised tourist attraction as well. | | Next>>> | | Previous<<< |
