| Tues. April 1, 1862 "Photographed Admiral Bayfield and Mrs. and Miss Bayfield in Mugford's saloon (a Charlottetown portrait photographer) - sisters and Jane Haszard after." Sat. May 17, 1862 "Sent photos to HB (Helen Bayfield)" Helen Bayfield (1839-1867) was the daughter of nautical surveyor Admiral Henry and Fanny (Wright) Bayfield. The Bayfields relocated to Charlottetown from Quebec in 1841. Fanny Bayfield was an accomplished artist and musician. She taught painting and music to the ladies of Charlottetown, and no doubt encouraged artistic expression in her children. Helen may very well have experimented with the photographic process. Many of the images found in the album include views of Montreal, where the Bayfields were visiting at some length or perhaps living for a time. | | Next>>> | | Previous<<< |
