Micmac and Fitzroy Tennis Club members

Tennis club members posed in front of the toboggan slide in 1884 for photographer Cyrus Lewis. Built by 1870, the slide was accessible only to members and guests of the Victoria Toboggan Club who maintained and regulated its use. By-laws of the Victoria Toboggan Club in 1886 list 7 executive officers, members' names and rules and regulations for the use of the slide. Smoking on the slide was prohibited in the presence of ladies.
