This group photograph, dated approximately 1897, is by amateur photographer Albert W. Mitchell (1868-1906). Mitchell was born and lived in Charlottetown where he worked as an accountant and director of the Prowse Bros. mercantile firm. One of his hobbies was photography. In 1972, a collection of 225 glass plate negatives was donated to the P.E.I. Museum and Heritage Foundation by Mitchell's grandson.
