Following a career in journalism with the Charlottetown Herald, John Caven (1826-1914) began teaching French and English at Prince of Wales College with Dr. Alexander Anderson in 1879. Professor Caven worked with and supervised the pupil teachers as they practised their skills in the model school. Caven remained at Prince of Wales College until 1902.
