Event: Advanced Nosema ID Workshop

TIME: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Join Master Beekeeper Karen Thurlow of New Moon Apiary for this advanced Nosema ID Workshop. Karen has been a beekeeper since the 70’s and has been educating others about beekeeping and the use of microscopy as a diagnostic tool in beekeeping for some time.

This is a hands-on workshop with microscopes available for participants’ use. Participants will learn how to prepare slides for optimal viewing under the microscope and will learn how to identify nosema and retrieve tracheas for examination of trachael mites.

Participants are asked to bring at least 1/4 cup of frozen bees and 12 fresh bees collected no earlier than the day before the workshop. No previous microscope experience is necessary.

A maximum of 10 advanced beekeepers will be accepted into the workshop

COST: $25 +HST

Event: Atlantic Soil 2016 - Digging into Soil Health
